It’s official. According to E! News, Kelly Rowland is scheduled to appear on FOX’s mega-hit show Empire this fall. Rumors had been squirming for a while that Kelly Rowland may be joining the new season. Last month she met with the screenwriters of the show. After the meeting, the Empire writers sent out a tweet to Kelly Rowland, thanking her for spending time with them.

Now for those of you expecting Kelly to jump into a song and dance on the hit show, sadly you will be disappointed. It’s being reported that the Destiny’s Child R&B diva will portray flashbacks of Lucious Lyon’s mother. While we may not see her light up the stage singing like we’re accustomed to, we will see her acting abilities, unlike one member of her old group (no shade).

The second season of Empire is set to premiere Wednesday Sept. 23 and will feature many celebrity guest stars such as Chris Rock, Lenny Kravitz, Alicia Keys and Marisa Tomei, just to name a few.

Congrats to Kelly Rowland on her new role as Lucious Lyon’s mother. If Lucious takes his behaviour after his mother, then we’re in for a treat. Can’t wait to see how this all goes down!
