In a Sports Illustrated article, LeBron James announced that he’s headed back to Cleveland. I think it’s safe to say that he also wants fans to at least like (if not love) him again. LeBron James is quoted as saying that his relationship with Ohio “is bigger than basketball.” He admits that he didn’t realize this four years ago, but he does now.
I’m wondering how Cleveland feels about LeBron James. Should they forgive him? Should they welcome him back with open arms? The entire NBA was waiting to find out LeBron’s decision. It’s difficult to understand what motivates a legendary and future hall of fame athlete like LeBron James. It could be millions and millions of dollars, but maybe it’s something more.
Despite the money, players like LeBron James have feelings, too. He had a big decision to make on the heels of losing the NBA Championship. He’s bound to have been a little bummed out by the negative tweets trending about him like this one:
“Retweet if you don’t care about LeBron James.”
Hopefully, the Cleveland Cavaliers will be what LeBron James needs in an organization.
