15-month-old baby girl, Brier Ineichen, who lives with her grandmother Annette, was found suffering from severe dehydration after surviving on her own for 6 days as her grandmother laid dead in the bathroom.
Anthony Waldo, a close family friend, found Brier after the toddler’s mother, Tracy Ineichen, called him and asked him to check on her daughter because she had a bad feeling. Waldo found Brier in her crib weak and barely able to raise her head, so he called 911 and authorities arrived to take her to a nearby hospital, where she has since been treated and released.
Annette, the girl’s grandmother is believed to have passed away due to a medical issue, however, authorities have not yet ruled an official cause of death.
Brier’s mother is currently serving time in jail for failing to appear for a court date and violating the terms of community correction. She left the girl in her mother’s care but will now be looking to have Waldo seek custody of Brier until her release from jail.

While this story is certainly sad, I look at it as more of an eye opening experience for many of these mothers making stupid mistakes and leaving the burden of raising their kids on their elderly parents.
The mother in this instance, was sent to jail for failing to appear in court, which in itself is a stressor for most parents. On top of the jail time, now the elderly and likely sickly grandmother, has to step in and raise a baby that requires constant attention. We’re talking about erratic sleep, elevated stress, and any financial hardships that the woman may have encountered because of her daughter’s irresponsibility.
I hope this family friend, whom I assume is the mother’s boyfriend, is awarded custody and somehow comes to his senses by not giving the mother custody upon her release.
Too many stories of mothers not talking care of their babies so it’s time to start sending them to jail and taking their babies from them.
