Comedian and 30 Rock star, Tracy Morgan, was seriously injured in a car crash on the New Jersey Turnpike during the early-morning hours of Saturday, June 7th.

The accident also left Morgan’s family friend, James “Uncle Jimmy Mack” McNair, 63, dead. Both Morgan and his personal assistant, Jeff Millea, were airlifted to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. Morgan is said to have suffered serious trauma to his leg, and is lying unconscious at the hospital. According to a friend, Morgan is in “in very bad shape.”

The Emmy-nominated 30 Rock actor was riding in a luxury van on the way to back to New York after a performance in Delaware when it was struck by a Wal-Mart tractor-trailer. The driver of the truck, Kevin Roper, allegedly fell asleep at the wheel minutes before smashing into Morgan’s van, causing it to hit another tractor-trailer and flip over. Comedians Harris Stanton and Ardie Fuqua were riding along with Morgan and were also injured in the crash, though not as seriously as Morgan and his assistant. Roper has been charged with one count of death by auto and four counts of assault by auto.

Morgan’s family is with him at the hospital, and according to them, the situation is grave.

Sabina Morgan, Morgan’s ex-wife, told the press, “He’s not in good shape. I can’t believe it. It’s like I’m in a nightmare.” When asked what the doctor’s prognosis was, she responded, “I don’t know. We’re just still vigilant with prayer.”

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Morgan and his family as they go through such a terrible tragedy. Get well soon, Tracy!
