Guns & Drinks? Gun Range Given Permission to Sell Alcohol

As if things couldn’t get more bizarre, the local Daytona Beach board of commissioners have approved the request to grant a gun range the permission to sell alcohol on its premises.

Volusia Top Gun, an indoor shooting range owned by Ron Perkinson, is planning on renovating an abandoned building on the same property as the gun range and turning it into a restaurant with a license to sell alcohol. Perkinson’s argument is that in order for the restaurant to be profitable, he must be allowed to make money from liquor sales.

Perkinson explained to the board of commissioners that the restaurant would not sell to patrons before they were planning on visiting the gun range and absolutely no firearms would be permitted within the restaurant itself. He also says that staff will track the amount of drinks a customer purchases by their driver’s licenses and any customers who cause trouble will be added to a list for future reference with police being called immediately no matter the first offense.

Here is a look at Perkinson’s full interview with a local news afflliate regarding safety precautions he plans on taking:

While this sounds like a great way for a businessman to open a new revenue stream for himself, the thought of alcohol and guns being legally allowed on the same property of a public business sounds absolutely crazy. You can bet I won’t be visiting that place! Talk about shoot ’em up, bang bang.
