Quinton Wright was arrested on Tuesday in Stone Mountain, Georgia. If you can believe it, this Champion Theme Middle School math teacher and sports coach in DeKalb County has been accused and charged with four misdemeanor counts of “contributing to the delinquency of a minor.”

A mother of one of Wright’s students found text messages between Wright and her son, who is 14 years old, that suggested that Wright allowed students to have sex in his classroom storage closet.

She summarized a few details of the text messages, saying:

“He told my son you can have it from 7:30 to like 8:30. ‘Did you tell the girl what’s going to happen? That she cannot tell anybody?’ basically don’t tell anyone I’m allowing you to use my room.”

One text from the student to Wright says, “I’ll give u to money for it tomorrow can u get me a 3 pack of Trojan.”

Also included in the text was a calendar that showed the schedules of all of the teachers at the middle school and also told the 14-year-old boy that he didn’t have any condoms, saying in the text, “I ain’t got no condoms” and “Yall can’t be long.”

She also commented, saying that β€œit’s very sickening and disheartening, because we trust administrators and educators when we drop our kids off at school.”

While it isn’t clear yet if sexual acts were performed in the closet, how many times or how many students might be involved, you can bet Wright will be severely punished beyond his immediate termination from the school.

Investigations are still ongoing, but it’s pretty clear from the little amount of information that has been released so far that serious charges will be made. This is certainly a disturbing and sad story that hopefully will never be repeated.
