Kentucky Man Attempts to Dig Up Father’s Grave to Send Him to Heaven

Michael Dale May, a 44-year-old Kentucky man, is sitting in jail after attempting to dig up his father’s grave so that he could “go to heaven.” May arrested for violating graves, public intoxication, and possession of marijuana, says that it was bible scripture which prompted him to dig up his father’s 30 year old grave.

I see the truth,” said May, who didn’t explain what that Scripture was. “He needs to be on the ground, not under it, not below it. If the truth doesn’t come out and nobody sees the truth, yeah, I’ll do it again.

That’s right, even after being busted by Lincoln County Constable Delbert Mitchell, May is planning on attempting to exhume his father’s body again.

He started hollering out [Bible] verses at me,” Constable Mitchell said. “He told me he was trying to dig his dad up so his dad could go to heaven.

Prior to his arrest, May had a completely clean record and there is no word as to if he were under the influence of any drugs, other than alcohol and the marijuana found in his possession.

It would be nice to know which verses May interpreted as meaning that his father would not go to heaven if buried underground. Clearly, he thinks he knows better than hundreds of years of common burial practices, religious-based or not.
