You can say goodbye to Bruce Jenner. The man has transitioned to a woman in front of our eyes. Bruce Jenner made the shock announcement of her transition in a television special back in April. Over 17 million viewers watched the show.
Bruce made the ultimate leap to womanhood when she disclosed her new identity, Caitlyn Jenner, on Vanity Fair. Shot by Annie Leibovitz, the iconic photograph of Caitlyn Jenner with the caption, “Call Me Caitlyn,” quickly garnered unrivalled attention from the masses after the upload of the article by the magazine.
Caitlyn Jenner’s Twitter account was also started simultaneously with the upload of the Vanity Fair article. It was only a matter of hours before over a million people started following Caitlyn.
Caitlyn mentions in the magazine, “If I was lying on my deathbed and I had kept this secret and never ever did anything about it, I would be lying there saying, ‘You just blew your entire life.’”
Have a read at an excerpt extracted from a behind-the-scenes video of the shoot. Jenner talks about finally being free.
“I was probably at the Olympic Games because I was running away from a lot of things. Very, very proud of the accomplishment, I don’t want to diminish that accomplishment. The last few days of doing this shoot was about my life and who I am as a person. It’s not about the fanfare, it’s not about people cheering in the stadium, it’s not about going down the street and everybody giving me a, ‘Thata boy Bruce’pat on the back. This is about your life. Bruce always had to tell a lie. He was always living that lie, everyday he always had a secret from morning till night. Caitlyn doesn’t have any secrets. Soon as the Vanity Fair cover comes out, I’m free.”
