According to TMZ, the fashion designer Christian Audigier, behind the successful Ed Hardy and Von Dutch clothing lines has died at the age of 57. It’s being reported that he died of cancer. His publicist, Michele Elyzabeth, had this to say,
I just heard the news and I am truly devastated. Christian was an incredibly brilliant man. He will be missed.
I’m sure we all remember rocking the Von Dutch hats and Ed Hardy gear back in the day. Not only was his clothing line innovative at the time, but they were also made in the good ole’ USA. His brand of clothing can be seen in over 40 countries and his current net worth is reported to be approximate $250 million. Besides Ed Hardy, Christain also worked on clothing lines such as Levi’s, Diesel, Guess, American Outfitters, Bisou Bisou, and XOXO.
Back in the day his most famous brands, Ed Hardy and Von Dutch, were made popular by many A-list celebrities like Ashton Kutcher, Audrina Patridge, and Jon Gosselin. Two of his biggest celebrity supporters were Madonna and the late great Michael Jackson.
Audigier had been battling cancer since January and had previously told TMZ that he was suffering from MSD (myelodysplastic syndrome), the same bone disease that Good Morning America host Robin Roberts was diagnosed with back in 2012.
Although we lost another fashion icon, his vision and innovative clothing style shall live on forever. I mean who doesn’t still have a few Ed Hardy pieces in the back of their closet? Guilty…
