Now that Michael Sam has earned a place on the St. Louis Ram’s roster, he’s got to keep it! If he can make it through pre-season and earn a permanent spot on the 53-man roster, then Michael Sam will make history by becoming the first openly gay active football player in the NFL.
The Oprah Winfrey Network announced plans to make a documentary about Michael Sam’s courageous journey into NFL history. Fans could get an up-close and personal look into the life of Sam as he battles for a spot on the roster during pre-season.
In a statement, Michael Sam said:
“I’m determined to make this team. When I do make it…you will see number 96 running down that field and making big plays for his team.”
The Oprah Winfrey Network also issued a statement:
“We are honored that Michael Sam is trusting us with his private journey in this moment that has not only made history but will shape it forever…”
